Born and raised in the Midwest; Harold M. Kolenbrander is the embodiment of Midwestern values. Yet coming of age in the 1940s and 50s in a small farming town was not without its excitement and; at times; danger. And for Kolenbrander; it was an environment that bred curiosity; exploration and ingenuity. In Coming of Age in a Town Time Forgot; Kolenbrander presents a series of autobiographical vignettes in which he revisits his hometown; a place he describes as a town that time forgot. While reflecting on his youth; he describes beloved pastimes as an "invincible" adolescent; recounts how his experiences shaped the man he became; and even considers the meaning of life. Kolenbrander's heartfelt memoir is a testament to the ties that bind us and a moving tribute to the profound and lasting impact of family; friendship and community.
