Beskrivelse
Leisl was living a fairly happy and successful life when a twist in her mental health derailed her. After months of no sleep, her behavior became increasingly aggressive and she landed up making a random, spur-of-the-moment trip to Havana, Cuba. On her return, her husband forced her into a hospital where she was diagnosed with bipolar type one.
What follows is the story of how she learnt to cope with this hard and often lonely disease. Leisl goes through a series of highly distressing events in the aftermath of her first manic episode, including losing her husband and losing custody of her children.
Colored Girl in a Black and White World is an honest memoir about a disease we still don't know much about. It attempts to shine a light on some of the truths about living with bipolar.
