National Geographic's Trails Illustrated map of Colorado National Monument details the high use recreation areas throughout Colorado's Grand Valley surrounding the towns of Grand Junction, Fruita, Palisade, and Loma. This popular region features some of the State's most acclaimed mountain biking, hiking and ATV trails including the start of the renowned Kokepelli Trail, which extends down to Moab, UT. Created in partnership with local land management agencies, this expertly researched map features key areas of interest including McInnis Canyon National Conservation Area; James M. Robb-Colorado River and Highline Lake state parks; Grand Valley Open OHV Area; Little Book Cliffs Wild Horse Range; Westwater Canyon; and Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness. Designed with a wide range of visitors in mind, this map features detailed topography with shaded relief, elevations, and accurate road network. Trail use is easy to identify, whether you're hiking, biking, horseback riding, or traveling by motorcycle or ATV. Road types are differentiated as well, so you know if the route you choose is a paved, dirt, four-wheel-drive, or high-clearance road. The Diamond Dinosaur Prehistoric Highway and Unaweep Tabeguache Scenic Byway are noted for those wishing to take in the scenery by car. River mileage on the Colorado and Gunnison rivers is noted as well, for those exploring by boat. Many recreation features are provided as well, including campgrounds, trailheads, interpretive trails, boat launches, fishing access, swimming areas, river access, and horse corrals.
Every Trails Illustrated map is printed on "Backcountry Tough" waterproof, tear-resistant paper. A full UTM grid is printed on the map to aid with GPS navigation.
