Sven van der Meer, a renowned Dutch architect, just finished the design and building of The Spire, Chicago's tallest and most divisive skyscraper. This was his greatest professional accomplishment. But he is losing his vision, which poses a threat to his illustrious career. He has now run out of time, and the only lady who can assist him keep up his façade of invincibility is also the only one who hates him and The Spire.
