Neurological disorders are diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system. Examples of symptoms include paralysis,muscle weakness, poor coordination, loss of sensation, seizures, confusion, pain and altered levels of consciousness. Thereare many recognized neurological disorders, some relatively common, but many rare. They may be assessed by neurologicalexamination, and studied and treated within the specialities of neurology and clinical neuropsychology. Neurosurgicalnursing is a specialty within the field of medical-surgical nursing. Medical-surgical nursing focuses on adult health and is theoldest form of nursing.
