This edition has been updated with two new sections and three new chapters as well as four new appendices. The text assumes readers have been exposed to courses in calculus and calculus-based general physics, while no prior knowledge of differential equations is required. Each chapter contains homework problems of varying degrees of difficulty to enhance understanding of the material in the text.
