The hidden money from the stolen sketces 20yrs ago is again a matter of concern. Sir Robert dies after a long illness and his son and heir Donald becomes 7th Earl of Lanark. Donald befriends the beautiful housemaid, Nellie Tyrell and they fall in love. They are married and so inquisitive little Nel becomes Lady Cairns. War in Euroe breaks out 1938 and Donald is called up. After recovering from a war injury and post traumatic syndrome, he returns to Nellie and their new baby. Clanmere House becomes a psyciatric hospital for 100's of scottish soldiers and so ends the story of Clanmere House. Donald and Nellie have a son and he becomes the next Laird of Clanmere.
