Beskrivelse
City Secrets Movies is a compilation of short essays written by directors, actors, film critics, producers, film scholars, and other notable figures from the film industry, the arts, and other fields. Contributors have chosen a film, or an aspect of a film such as a performance, style or theme, that they feel has been overlooked or underappreciated. Alternatively, they have chosen a film that is well known but for which they can offer personal insights, unique observations, or specialized information. The essays range from a few sentences to several paragraphs. The tone ranges from literary to conversational, humorous to scholarly, but the overall goal of City Secrets Movies is to share personal enthusiasm for film. A percentage of the proceed is donated to The Film Foundation, a leading nonprofit dedicated to the preservation of film. The Film Foundation was founded by Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Robert Redford, Francis Ford Coppola, and others. Contributors include Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, Wes Anderson, Alec Baldwin, Milos Forman, John Guare, Anjelica Huston, Jim Jarmusch, Barbara Kopple, Sidney Lumet, and Simon Schama, among many other film experts.
