City of Crows

A lonely technician, Harold Norman Porter, is pulled into a world that has been devastated by the powerful Order of Christ the Healer. The Order regard genetics as God’s Will and released a virus that targeted the DNA of all those they deemed Unworthy. Harold wakes up in a deserted, rainswept rail-yard in the City of Crawcester and is surrounded by a dozen Scatterlings, orphans of the Great Plague, who proclaim him to be their Light-Father. Having lost his own daughter, he resolves to save these children from the Order and their brutal soldiers, the Tally-men.   

 

Guided by the prophecy of Mother Moss, he realises that there’s no choice but to lead them and the last five Wiccans of Britannia to the Great Abbey to put an end to the evil Great-Abbot Schimrian and the Great Computer that designed the Revelation Virus but the self-aware machine now has a name: Azrael
