China Thinking: An Introduction, is the beginning place of much of the Mead-Hill Collection of China Tales and Stories.

Beneath every one of this book's selections lies the existence of some pervasive characteristic of Chinese behavior and/or thinking. Rather than presenting some armchair summary of such things, presenting yet another "this is the way it is" about China, this book is designed instead to engage the imagination, and psychologically, at that.

Thus, the reader is invited to reflect, to question:

- what might such a story mean? - why is it included? - of whom does it remind me? - where in today's news might I find evidence of this? - when in China travels would I meet such a situation?- how might I most usefully respond?

In these ways, this two-part book's hundreds of selections will explode into three, maybe even four applicable dimensions - a promise, fulfilled over and over again in living its compilation.
