Beskrivelse
A week after being declared dead, Locke is forcefully woken up to a broken world. The Chimera virus has wiped out all of the adults in their town, leaving the youth who survived desperate and isolated. Locke's best friend Shain, revives him in the wake of this destruction, despite how furious he is with him from a history Locke cannot recall. However, Shain needs Locke's particular set of skills to help free his little brother Rune from quarantine. It doesn't take long before Locke finds himself at the center of a growing community of survivors. Pushed into a leadership role he does not want, Locke must confront his delinquent past to find a solution to the growing list of problems his new town must face. Among them is Locke's high school enemy, Warren. Fresh out of a stint at Juvenile Hall for a crime that Locke committed, Warren seeks revenge and will do whatever it takes to show their community the person he believes Locke truly is. On top of their struggles, the Chimera virus still lies dormant inside them, and the scientists who created it are baffled by their resilience to the disease. They seek a cure to the outbreak, and they will acquire it at any cost. While his past haunts this new present, Locke must learn how to forgive himself in order to help everyone else move forward. Yet, as Locke and a group of his closest friends will soon learn, trust is easily broken and difficult to rebuild. Chimera: Contraction, the first book in the Chimera Trilogy, is a wild ride about survival, friendship, and accepting your past.
