Children of the World

Students will get to spend a day with children from all over the world and learn the ways in which their lives are similar and how they are different. These books follow children from diverse cultures as they go about their daily routines. Each book contains, information about the specific country's people and their daily lives, hourly coverage of a typical day in a child's life which includes family, school, and free time. Also included are descriptions of typical meals and foods, including what kids in each country eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Curriculum Connections include social studies nonfiction about current events and global issues that meet students' need for complex informational text. The text challenges students to analyze how the lives of students in foreign lands are affected by where they live. Through the use of facts and details, students develop a picture of life in a place they have never been.
