Beskrivelse
In this compilation, risk factors such as diet and lifestyle behaviours associated with the inflammatory state occurring in obesity are reviewed, from the prenatal and early postnatal stages to childhood and adolescence. In the United States, childhood obesity is a serious problem that puts children and adolescents at risk for poor health. For children and adolescents ages 2 to 19, the prevalence of obesity is 18.5%. The authors analyze the changes in four nutritional indexes: body mass index (BMI), waist-height ratio (WtHR), fat mass index (FMI) and fat-free mass index (FFMI) in a group of obese adolescents enrolled in an extensive combined intervention to reduce excess body fat.
