Isn't it strange how memories don't stay the same, even from one day to the next? Unlike books, memories are fluid, rewriting the past as we progress into the future. When we gather memories into books, we force them to be static. The result, which may read as truth to one, may seem like fiction, or even falsehood, to another. This is the story of one woman's childhood, growing up in a rural mill town in Vermont. It is told as a series of memories of simpler times and colorful adventures. Her life story takes a few interesting side trips as she explores her world, discovers boys, and survives painful losses.
