All fifty States, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands have statutes specifying procedures that State agencies must follow in handling reports of suspected child abuse or neglect. This book presents aspects and summaries of state laws in regards to reporting child abuse and neglect. Some of the aspects discussed are the mandatory reporters of child abuse and neglect; cross-reporting among responders; making and screening reports of child abuse and neglect; penalties for failure to report and false reporting and immunity for reporters of child abuse and neglect.
