These flowing, low impact movements are performed using a short baton, which helps inexperienced students maintain correct posture, improves the action of breathing and aids the flow of internal energy. Easy to learn, and suitable for all ages, this programme helps with flexibility, strength and cardio-vascular fitness. It has proved particularly beneficial for those students suffering from stress and back problems. The author has studied a variety of internal and external martial arts over the last 50 years and has represented England as a Powerlifter. (He initially developed Chi Baton Exercises as a simple way of helping his students to understand the principles of Tai Chi, and mechanics of movement. They become so popular, however, that they developed in their own right and there are now over 400 exercises and 40 programmes, taught in classes dedicately solely to this art.)
