The chaos within us (30.000 words)
"Chaos" by Lyudmila Androvska, translated from Bulgarian, is a beautiful gem about the pain of life, that gets under your skin. A metaphor for the eternal cycle of things, on the stage of a small village by the sea.
The living conditions by the sea are barren, the huts small, the world around the village has long since disintegrated, only here time stands still. The idyll and tranquility are deceptive. Despite all the traditions, the chaos of the world invades and expands. People seek, despair, remain silent and yet only follow their desire for love and security. But that leads to murder.
Wanda, the village midwife, also leads a small and difficult life, always knitting her black midwife's coat, as tradition dictates. She is closest to life and death and finally realizes how chaos inevitably breeds horror in souls. Only the sea remains what it has always been.
