When I talked about writing a book of poems, I was laughed at. I know these days general public is not interested in poetry. The outcome of Television has thrown into the background the importance of different aspects of literature. People now find it tedious to go through novels, books of poetry and literacy criticism. The reading habit has been seriously injured. The introduction of computer has turned it into a casualty. Even films on TV have caused irreparable loss to the cinema houses. Many cinema houses are on the verge of close-down. Now it is the computer age, and as a result the publication industry is also suffering. But despite all this, even now a section of the people, especially students of literature, take interest in poetry, novels, short stories, critical appraisals. Even a section of the general public who sometimes find sub-standard monotonous presentations on the TV feel forced to revive their interest and take shelter under the different wings of literature. Nothing in this world has altogether, it changes its shape and importance. Poetry even now has the potentiality to touch our heart and recreate our degenerating interest. It still lives and has not lost its charm as long as heart beats.
