A journey through English history in story form. Starts with Edward the Confessor promising the English crown to William of Normandy. He conquers England and builds many castles to quell uprisings. These include the two castles at York. Both the Bailey Hill Castle and the York Castle were burned down by Hereward the Wake. He was the son of Lady Godiva and Earl Leofric of the Coventry area. York Castle became infamous because it was the site of the 'Massacre of the Jews' in 1190. Because of his actively taking part in the Revolt of the Barons against King Edward II, York Castle become known as Clifford's Tower when Baron roger de Clifford was hanged from the battlement of the keep of York Castle in 1322.
