We are living in a world today where our espoused values and contradictory actions are reported, almost immediately it seems, through numerous media outlets. It has become nearly impossible to hide one's dirty deeds. With this fact in the forefront of our thoughts, it is now even more imperative that leaders become better prepared to match words with actions in a more consistent, intentional, and equitable manner. Case studies can be an excellent tool to deepen one's understanding of and commitment to personal and institutional values. These internalize commitments to doing the right thing, at least for those of us with an ethical backbone, will diminish actions counter to the espoused values of the institution, and to one's self. Therefore, one of the primary purposes for the utilization of case studies is to enhance the abilities of leaders to lead more effectively.
