Care of the pediatric coma patient

The reality represented today by the increase of morbidity in the Pediatric Progressive Care Units, makes it essential to better prepare the medical team, especially nurses, in order to assume with quality the current challenges demanded by patient care. A descriptive, cross-sectional research was carried out in the Progressive Care Units of the Jos? Luis Miranda Pediatric Teaching Hospital of Villa Clara, during the year 2020, with the objectives of determining the level of knowledge of nurses in relation to the management of the pediatric coma patient according to their professional category, to specify the groups of vulnerable professionals during the diagnosis and to identify the frequency of errors in the answers of the competency test. The universe was represented by 60 nurses and the sample selected by stratified random probability sampling was formed by 42 professionals. A competency test was administered with the consent of those evaluated.
