The written Word is a disclosure of the Living Word, Jesus Christ our Lord, the source of our knowledge of Jesus. This letter of First Corinthians is very important as a guide for our discipleship of Jesus. Written by Paul around AD 55 to an Urban Church, it is his answer to many questions very similar to many we ask today. After Paul had ministered in Corinth and left, he continued to keep in touch, and his relationship was loving, respectful, and specific in counsel.May the reading of this devotional be an inspiration and a guide in our walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. We are called into the church as the body of Christ, a unique people in the world, marked primarily by our walk with Jesus. May the Spirit guide us in our reflection in honesty, humility, and holiness.A daily meditation is a stimulus to a living faith. But the nature of Called to Be God's People often makes it more necessary to do commentary than devotional thoughts. Faith is more than a set of beliefs; it is opening one's life to God. One should pray through the word, asking that each truth becomes personal. Devotion moves us beyond limited meditations to a spirit of life in wholehearted commitment. As we work through this very personal book of First Corinthians, may the way in which Paul engages the risen Jesus become real for each of us.
