Thirty-five-year-old Holly has always wanted to see the ocean. With her marriage and job falling apart she finds herself with the opportunity to do just that, but she lacks the courage to take the journey alone.Twenty-five-year-old Joel is the eccentric "green sheep" of an Oklahoma oil dynasty. When the café where he works closes and his girlfriend leaves him, he contemplates selling everything he owns to travel the country instead of joining the family business. Before he can make a decision, he crosses paths with Holly and becomes drawn into her quest to reach the edge of the world.On a two-thousand-mile drive from Oklahoma to Oregon, Holly and Joel confront their budding feelings for each other as well as the heartbreaks and hang-ups that have shaped their lives. Holly had to grow up too soon; Joel doesn't know how to start. In trying to unravel what it means to be an adult, they discover their place in the world-and whether or not that place is beside each other.
