By the Skin of the Teeth is the 4th novel in the Sent to the Stars: Hard Luck series. Other books in the series are Hard Luck on an Asteroid, The Jewel of the Manticore, and Reptilians Have it Easy.

Kiktar, Abodeis, and Mastinu must work together, along with their old associate Djadlan Mar, to travel to the far reaches of the galaxy, in order to assure the safety of the Galactic Assembly of Nations. The book contains three sections, each presented as a first person perspective from one of the main three characters. By the Skin of the Teeth is a Sci-Fi Fantasy adventure story that concludes the tail of these three space adventurers.
