Bunraku Knights

Can we talk with the dead to learn our past? In this retelling of Japanese American history, Brad and Yumi Morioka research their family's history to perform a Bunraku play. Encouraged by their mother, they talk with their deceased ancestors using AI avatars to analyze historical sources and learn what really happened in "Barbary Japantown." They discover the proverbial "skeletons in the closet" never told in community histories. Join their exploration into San Francisco's dark Barbary Coast past as they seek to understand the dreams and setbacks faced by their ancestors and how it impacts their daily lives.
