Bunches and Piles and Heaps...Oh My!

When Sharon E. Sirocco was nine, she was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. This was only the first of many health challenges to come. Happily, she has always known that God is her comfort and guide.

After years of dealing with diabetes, Sirocco was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease. She had a kidney and pancreas transplant, but the antirejection drugs she had to take made her bones fragile, and that led to painful fractures. She underwent many surgeries to fix the breaks.

Sirocco then found a cancerous growth on her ankle. She had Mohs surgery to remove the cancer, but it returned again and again. She had part of her ankle removed, and then her leg was amputated below the knee. However, the cancer had already spread, and Sirocco underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Eventually, to save her life, her doctors had to amputate Sirocco's leg at the hip joint.

Despite her suffering, Sirocco's story isn't one of fear and anxiety but rather hope and healing. She knows God is by her side at every doctor's appointment and during every surgery. Sirocco, with humor and warmth, shares the blessings in her life and the divine love that helped her survive.
