This teaching card is part of Bug Club, the first whole-school reading programme that joins books with an online reading world to teach today's children to read. SUMMARISING Position your index fingers in the air and ask one child to summarise the text. Tell the child that by the time your fingers meet they need to have told you the most important details of the text. Once the child has finished, ask the other children if there's anything they'd like to add or expand on.
