Since 2006 the RAF has provided major air support in southern Afghanistan to help with reconstruction and to support the authority of the Afghan government. Its personnel and aircraft have been very heavily involved in everything from tactical reconnaissance and close air-support to in-theatre airlift and air-refuelling. Author Antony Loveless presents the personal stories of a complete cross-section of the RAF's personnel deployed on the frontline in Afghanistan - from the Air Commander in overall charge on the airside, down through his section commanders, to the pilots, engineers, loadmasters and all those on the ground who make it happen.
