An activist is found slain on the beach inside the Makah Indian reservation in Washington state, home of the very people he was protesting. The murder weapon, an ancient Makah spear, and tensions over the tribe's defiance of orders to cease their whaling ritual, the case looks like a slam dunk.
Detective Joe Woodfeathers calls in for help from the outside - Wildlife Officer Adam Raines and Sean Kendall. Finding not everything being what they seem, Sean and Adam follow the investigation to Portland, Oregon. The pair quickly find themselves uncovering an international conspiracy, one that has ties eerily close to home.
Before they can unravel the entire mystery, a call for help aboard a Portland river cruise sends Sean on a daring rescue in the swift waters of the mighty Columbia River.
