BLINK , A Collection of Children's Stories by David Kettlewell, is a unique work and in time will be considered a classic...that's how I see it. These stories are meant to be shared. They appeal to the young child and to the child in every adult. The stories are full of colorful characters and fanciful happenings AND there is a message about life apparent to adults which may be shared with the child. The characters and the world's they inhabit reach out and quickly draw us in...we feel and see that character and their world; we empathize with them. This is a thinking person's book for adults, AND a charming and captivating book for loved ones. There is a little girl who dreams of becoming turtle and wakes to find her dream has come true...but this new world isn't really what she thought it would be. There is a story about an invisible girl who lives unnoticed in her home with her parents until something happens to change her life forever. Perhaps my favorite story is about the flying pig that plays harmonica and how he remains true to himself. It resonated deeply with me. This book is a fine addition to the children's genre; I'm guessing you will enjoy it as much as the children. The book format of 6x9 will give your child their first "grown up" book. Frederica Cohen Author and Music Educator -- By Sue Kilcoyne Reader & artistic soul "It's a book parents will enjoy reading to kids." -- Mike Blanc...the illustrator of this book It has been a great pleasure to read BLINK , and work with David Kettlewell on its presentation. BLINK is a superb collections that provides a trove of imaginative stories that skillfully dodge expectations. That is the essential fun in it, but there's more-discovery, thoughtfulness and sometimes, a weighty theme breathing below the surface. Don't let that scare you. My recommendation is that you settle in and take a ride; over the playground, beyond the clouds and under the waves. For BLINK , the unusual characters and stories offer and illustrator much to consider. Animals ignore gravity, the invisible is seen, and oddities become perfectly commonplace over the course of a sentence or two. For the professional artist, it's the rare treat to be given complete freedom of process. On this, David insisted and the results are here; this artist's unbridled impressions, well-suited I hope, to the creative spirit crafted into each tale. I encourage you to visualize with me, and beyond. There's much to see herein, and that's your part-the essential fun Mike Blanc Illustrator, Artists Incorporated -- David Kettlewell is the author of many books, screenplays, and host and producer of television programs. -- From David Kettlewell, the author of this book I'm so glad you are reading this, and welcome to the world of these characters and the lives they live. I hope you come to love and admire them as much as I do. Yes, I speak of the characters as real, for in many ways they are. Memorable moments for me include hearing Frederica's early impressions of the book, Sue's comment that the book would be equally fun to for parents and children to read, and the great pleasure I had in working with Mike Blanc, the illustrator of this book, (and with Tom Knauer who mans the helm at Artists Inc.) I was fortunate indeed that an illustrator of Mike's vast talents was able to work on this book. As I turn the pages to look at the illustrations, they are perfect. I knew Mike's talent, and knew they would be spot on...and they are I am always fascinated to hear what readers see in these works, to know what YOU think My author website is davidkettlewell.com, there is a CONTACT link, and you can send me an email with your thoughts.
