Beskrivelse
Helpless to save his mum from drowning off the coast of County Kerry, Ireland, and just barely surviving himself, young Jack Flynn is rescued by a mysterious pair of webbed hands reaching up from the ocean depths. Jack recalls nothing of his narrow escape until years later when he meets Lillay, a young teenage mermaid, at the Dublin docklands. Dublin, named by the Vikings centuries ago as the Black Pool, is where Jack sees both his past and his future meet.By means of a legendary red cap that allow Mer people to walk among humans, Lillay desperately wants to give Jack the Mer's magical Trefoil Trident for safekeeping. Lillay is being sought by Radis, a power-obsessed merman who will stop at nothing to rule over both land and sea. Lillay gives a reluctant Jack the Trident to hide and then disappears. Sirens, lethal bird-like creatures, also want to steal the Mer Trident. A flock of sirens led by the blood thirsty Tisean arrive in Dublin to track Jack, demanding that the Son of Land relinquish the Mer's most prized treasure. Jack realizes the Trident - which has mysterious, unruly powers of its own - is not safe on land. He must find Lillay and return it. Thirteen-year old Jack Flynn is pulled into a dangerous adventure as he races against time to help the Mer.
