Birth of the doggone Hero

Young Reader, have you ever wished that your dog could talk and

      be your best friend? In 1832 Callie, a young slave girl, had such a

      wish for the dog on the schooner, the Wild Cat. And this is their

      story.

      

      In 1832 Edgar Boone sold six slaves to a New Orleans slave trader.

      Edgar then arranged for the slaves' transportation with his friend,

      Captain Tom Hunter on his schooner, the Wild Cat. While enroute

      to New Orleans, a terrific storm comes upon them off the coast of

      Florida. During the storm Callie finds a dog on board the Wild Cat.

      She immediately loves the dog and wishes that he can talk and

      become her best friend.

      

      Will Callie's wish come true? Will they make it to New Orleans?

      And if they get to New Orleans, what will happen when Callie and   

      the other five slaves are taken to the slave market?
