Dinah Shore blended a jazz-conscious approach to pop hits with a breezy, easy-to-take personality, plus a talent for comedy that made her the ideal hostess of 'Birds Eye Open House', a weekly variety program from the mid-1940s that also featured announcer/sidekick Harry Von Zell and the lush melodies of an orchestra conducted by Robert Emmett Dolan.
