Beskrivelse
Genetic engineering is the process of manually adding new DNA to an organism. The goal is to add one or more new traits that are not already found in that organism. Genes are the chemical blueprints that determine an organism's traits. Moving genes from one organism to another transfers those traits. The use of recombinant DNA technology has become commonplace as new products from genetically altered plants, animals, and microbes have become available for human use. Sientists have discovered two new methods capable of enhancing the efficiency of genetic engineering, and these new gene modification techniques could be huge when it comes to future research studies. Whatever may be the techniques used in biotechnology, the ultimate aim is to make use of the ability of cells to produce certain valuable compounds or the genetic improvements of plants and animals for the benefit of mankind. A must have book for students and all those working in biotechnology fields.
