Eartha Patterson has a lot to be thankful for. Despite a disability resulting from her premature birth, she leads a fairly normal life, with a job at the general store, a loving family, pets, hobbies, and a devoted relationship with her boyfriend, Eli. But especially in these days that follow a recent family loss, Eartha finds herself wondering what else may lay in store for a young person eager for adventure and aspirations beyond a small Tennessee town. Eartha also has questions about her mother, Yvette's, past and her biological father, about whom Yvette seems reluctant to speak. He reportedly died before Eartha was born. When a strange local incident suddenly brings federal attention to Castor, otherworldly secrets kept for twenty-one-years will unravel, forcing Eartha and Eli to run, hide, and fight for their lives, and Eartha to choose the path of her own destiny that might just lie beyond this world.
