This yearbook covers research in the fields of biomacromolecules such as proteins, DNA, and other biopolymers studied with mass spectrometry and peripheral techniques. Cleavage and breakdown of the large molecules is often necessary for their investigation and therefore such studies on the products are also of importance. Topics discussed include protein modifications and their analysis using mass spectrometry; chemical profiles of the insect cuticle; polycyclsiloxane background in field-based ion generation at atmospheric pressure; screening methodology for substrates of protein histidine and compilation of fragmentation data of single amino acids prepared by electrospray.
