The boat filled up with frightened insects, a family of ducks tried to eat the insects, and a huge crow divebombed the boat to try to get his dinner. Billy whacked him with his paddle and comforted his friends. A bad storm rocked the boat and Billy struggled to get the insects back home without capsizing..

He made them promise not to play by the lake again and they cheered him, waved, and scuttled home determined to be good and heed his advice.
