Many companies today employ outside firms to perform non-core functions (e.g., facilities management, IT support) for a variety of reasons. This trend is expected to continue, which is good news for firms engaged in providing those services. However, providing these services comes with challenges. How those challenges are dealt with determines the success a service provider achieves. The purpose of this book is to provide focus on those challenges and to offer suggestions on how to avoid or address them to help a service provider achieve the desired success. The book is structured in a manner that makes it a convenient reference or training guide. It begins with the first contact from a potential client and progresses through renewing a contract with them. Additionally, significant challenges are given special attention within the book.
