Hungarian is a Finno-Ugric language from the same family as Finnish and Estonian. It is spoken by over 14 million people worldwide, but most speakers live in Hungary (10 million) and Romania (1.5 million). Hungarian is the official language of the Republic of Hungary and one of the official languages of the European Union. Hungarians refer to their language as Magyar.
