Beskrivelse
The Stadlmann property at the market square in Freystadt, dating back to the late 14th century, was in a particularly bad state of repair due to the poor craftsmanship of numer-ous alterations and extensions as well as a lack of maintenance. Thanks to the restoration work and structural additions performed by the architects' practice Kühnlein Architektur, the estate now features a beautiful courtyard and blends into the urban fabric. Fragments from the past, such as the timber framework and wall paintings have been uncovered and preserved. As in former times, the facade facing the market square is once again fitted with wooden-framed, divided-light windows. The town archive has been accommodated in the main building of the listed Stadlmann property with a variety of meeting rooms on the upper floor. The site of the former barn has been used to develop a new connecting structure with an impressive, free-spanning hall under the roof. A timber-framed exterior staircase and corridor have been set along the outside as a reference to medieval arcades. This structure is the perfect place for a stage or box seat at a courtyard festival.
