Beskrivelse
The Barefoot-Withrow Families history and genealogy book was originally published in 1966 by Vivian and Anne Daugherty. Vivian and Anne, along with their sisters Susan, Helen, Lucille, and Antoinette, worked on the family history beginning in the mid-1950s and continued their efforts for at least a decade. They interviewed the older members of the family, tracked down 'lost' cousins and ferreted out family information from old letters, original documents and blurry copies. To validate their research, they notarized statements made by their mother and aunts and uncles. The sisters did not have the advantage of today's computers and online resources to make research easier so they did all this through personal contact, phone calls and letters. In spite of the lack of today's technology, they did a wonderful job of pulling the family information together, tracing our line back to Jeptha Barefoot who was in the Revolutionary War. Although finding the exact ancestor who first came to the New World has proved to be difficult, they were able to trace the origins of the name back through North Ireland to Scotland to Scandinavia.
