Beskrivelse
This publication is an edited English translation of the 'Baramaha' by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji from the Sri Dasam Granth. The Baramaha is literally translated as 'the twelve months'. The Baramaha is not unique to Sikhism and there are hundreds of different Baramaha scriptures created by both Hindu and Muslim poets, saints and intellectuals. Within the Sikh scriptures we find a number of scriptures under the name of Baramaha authored by the Sikh Gurus. Within the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji there are two Baramaha compositions, one authored by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Tukhari Rag and the second authored by Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji in the Majh Rag. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji also wrote two Baramahas to mirror those written by his predecessors. Many still believe that Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji only wrote one Baramaha and the other one is usually forgotten about. The two Baramahas are found within the epic 'Krishna Avtar Katha'. The Baramahas of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji are similar to the Baramahas found within the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. They relate to the separation and the pangs of despair that an individual experiences when they are not with their beloved.
