When the world falls apart, Joshua Baker leaves his cushy corporate life behind for the unknown of the Virginia mountains. Navigating his new reality becomes his norm-until he receives a call from an old friend.   



Kayla Kasper, stranded in Texas, asks him to fulfill his promise: whatever she needs, whenever she needs him, wherever she is. Without hesitation, Baker embarks on a quest across the remains of America to get to her, braving unforgiving terrain, ruthless rovers, and the worst of humanity.
