Awesome God Vol. 2

In this compilation, the theme chosen is power. God possesses all power. The question is raised that if Creator God used His power to establish all that exists, including humans and angels, and if He continues by that same power to uphold and sustain all of it, does He need to draw upon that power to actively destroy and punish sinners? Is there another way to see how God handles power?

Throughout our discourses, we should ever strive to speak well of the Omnipotent One, as we build upon established principles of divine love and righteousness to present an accurate portrayal of Him; a consistent picture of our Adonai, who engages in warfare righteously. Drawing upon Scriptural and Spirit of Prophecy evidence, a few of the topics covered in this volume:

• What was the attitude of early Christians toward politics, war, the policing of crime and the administration of justice? Should we adhere to their standard today?

• Why was an angel with a sword posted at the entrance to Eden to "keep the way of the tree of life?" Doesn't God want us to know The Way to eternal life?

• What happened in the spiritual realm at the Korah rebellion? Would Satan be motivated to be involved directly in the destruction of his own, and why?

• God is said to actively reprogram the brains of the Babel builders in a great anti-trust operation. How is this not using coercion to obtain obedience, that they should have dispersed over the earth, but didn't? This is a fascinating study.

• Samson has a history of drunken sensuality, punctuated with awesome acts of bloody violence, even in his final act. Did God inspire his acts? How can Samson's picture be hung in the Hebrews 11 hall of fame?

May all who love God cull from their thinking anything that might intersect any part of the divine attributes and methods from the ways and character of the enemy. These have nothing in common in the waging of the great controversy. The true picture of our Awesome God will have you singing a new song, not about footsteps of thunder and fists full of lightning, but about feet quick to save us from destruction and gentle hands, filled with the fire of His character-glory, stretched out to invite us to come Him without reservation!
