She founded the third Living Wisdom School in Portland, Oregon, where she was the director for fifteen years. Prior to that, Susan taught fourth through ninth grades at the first Living Wisdom School at Ananda Village in northern California, where she currently lives. She developed the first online Education for Life classes and is the author of a handbook for teachers and parents, Calm and Compassionate Children (Random House).
