Soon after notorious child abuser Kate Montalvo is released from prison, she is murdered. Her death marks the beginning of a spree of crimes against known or suspected child abusers where the crimes mimic those committed by the abusers. Jennifer Riley, a young new social worker, begins to suspect her colleagues of being involved-except one, Joe Carpenter. Jennifer and Joe become an item and decide to investigate the group of "helpers" who become known as the Karma Club.
