Prof. Dr. Victor Manuel Hern ndez-Guzm n was born in Queretaro, Mexico. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Instituto Tecnologico de Queretaro, Mexico, in 1988, a M.S. in Automatic Control from Instituto Tecnologico de la Laguna, Mexico, in 1991, and a Ph.D. in Mechatronics from Centro de Investigaci n y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politecnico Nacional (CINVESTAV-IPN), Mexico, in 2003. He has been a Professor at Universidad Autonoma de Queretaro, Mexico, since 1995, where he teaches Classical and Modern (Linear and Nonlinear) Control in undergraduate and graduate academic programs and he is a researcher in the Automatic Control Systems field. He has published about 45 papers in JCR indexed journals. He is coauthor of the book Automatic Control: Design Theory, Prototype Construction, Modeling, Identification and Experimental Tests (in Spanish) (Mexico City, Mexico: CIDETEC-IPN, 2013).
Prof. Dr. Ram n Silva-Ortigoza received a B.S. degree in Electronics from Benem rita Universidad Aut noma de Puebla, Mexico, in 1999, and a M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering (Mechatronics) from the Centro de Investigaci n y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Polit cnico Nacional (CINVESTAV-IPN), Mexico City, Mexico, in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He has been a Researcher at the Department of Mechatronics of Centro de Innovaci n y Desarrollo Tecnol gico en C mputo del Instituto Polit cnico Nacional (CIDETEC-IPN) since 2006. He is a coauthor of the book Control Design Techniques in Power Electronics Devices (London, U.K.: Springer-Verlag, 2006). He was an Editor of the book Mechatronics (in Spanish) (Mexico City, Mexico: CIDETEC-IPN, 2010). Moreover, he has recently coauthored the book Automatic Control: Design Theory, Prototype Construction, Modeling, Identification and Experimental Tests (in Spanish) (Mexico City, Mexico: CIDETEC-IPN, 2013). He has published more than 45 papers in JCR indexed journals, 3 chapters in international books, and he has presented more than 30 papers in international conferences. His research work has been cited more than 550 times. Dr. Silva-Ortigoza has been a reviewer in several JCR indexed journals. Also he has been referee in several national Research and Engineering Awards in Mexico as well as in CONACYT's "Quality Graduate Programs" and "Research Projects." Finally, his research interests include mechatronic control systems, mobile robotics, control in power electronics, and development of educational technology.
