Beskrivelse
This brochure endeavours to highlight how The Mother envisioned Auroville from its inception, some of the major achievements realised over the years, and some of the difficulties currently faced in implementing the guidelines which she gave.
The project of Auroville, located approximately 12 kms north of Pondicherry in south India, was formally inaugurated on 28th February 1968 with the aim of becoming an international universal township dedicated to the realization of the ideal of human unity in diversity.
The founder of Auroville, born Mirra Alfassa in Paris in 1878, who later became known as The Mother after being given charge of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry, was the driving force behind the manifestation of Auroville.
