SUMMARY:

Year 2552 A.D. - The United Terran Federation of Earth discovers they are not alone in the universe. Hundreds of prosperous and civilized worlds are members of the Galactic Council dominated by the Canopan Empire, the Rigellian Alliance, and the highly militaristic Aetherian Empire. As a non-starfaring race, the Terrans choose to ally themselves with the Aetherian Empire.

Commander Elliot Greyjoy, a decorated special forces hero and accomplished pilot in the United Terran Federation Navy is assigned as the liaison officer and military attaché to the Aetherian Princess. His unusual humor and charm draw them close until disaster strikes. When he discovers that the Aetherian Empire has ordered the assassination of their own Crown Princess as well as the destruction of Earth, Elliot plans his revenge for his demolished planet and his lost love with a set of most unusual and unique companions.

EXCERPT:

"This guy is good," I thought. With his crew in suits, the Storm's Captain vented his atmosphere out of his forward locks. The trick was only useful for a span of 20 seconds or so, but when his released atmosphere encountered his shields, it ionized. The increased conductivity afforded by the wispy and dissipating air gave the ship a little more efficiency in transferring energy to an impact point, allowing it to survive the next volley.

I looked at the time and thought, "Only 41 seconds before the Inquisitor's sensors would clear."

Ed Ryan in Thunder Child had seen my predicament, and his ship, along with his remaining wingman, Vampire4, were adding their railgun fire to the time-on-target salvos of my fighting array.

The Storm's shields began to flicker, and I commanded, "Warthogs, maintain time-on-target. Vampires, start walking." 'Walking' was the term we'd used for Winston's technique of firing the twin wing-mounted 300mm railguns a fractional microsecond apart. The port gun's recoil would begin a portside turn in the yaw axis, the starboard gun's recoil would halt the spin. The result would be two holes in an enemy ship spaced as closely apart as Winston wanted. At the rate of fire that the Vampires could dish out, it was like a giant sewing machine, punching evenly spaced holes in an enemy combatant.

That was the fate of the Storm as my Vampires cut simultaneous swaths across her hull when her shields failed. Secondary explosions appeared all over the ship, and a final blast - visible through every viewscreen told us she was dead.
