Beskrivelse
A son who never returns from war. A playwright who can't be found. A dinosaur which doesn't exist. An idea which lives in an oasis like a phantom. A home gardener, a basketball fan and a dreamy girl as living tarot cards. A nightmare with Dr. Freud in space and a new age guru with his umbrella.
Those are characters built up by Rafael Duarte Oliveira Venancio, a Brazilian playwright who melts history, science and pure imagination to write his theater. In this book, we have nine plays from him: At the Bus Stop, Looking for Mr. Visniec, The Last Sunny Day for a Dinosaur, Dom Sebastian's Oasis, The Portuguese High Priestess, The Basketball Hierophant, The Damascus Temperance, Moon Dreaming, and The Temple of Transcendent Umbrella.
All of these plays were written in English and performed in 2020 by American and Canadian theatre companies on Zoom or even in a street. It is just a glimpse to a way of writing drama that uses all the components of the human experience.
